PNC Park Renovations - Home Plate Club

The Pirates asked DLA+ to work with Populous on the renovations of the Home Plate Club at PNC Park. Our scope included interior design and furniture selection for the dining room, bar, toilet rooms and grab-and-go areas. The design included new high-end finishes and furnishings, custom millwork, and technology integration, including new LED televisions and USB charging stations at the bar, as well as incorporating existing and new team branding, artwork, and memorabilia.

Project Challenges and Outcomes

The goal was to provide a cost-effective interior renovation that could be completed in the off season and maintain the history and timeless design of the existing Ballpark. The space also needed to enhance the fan experience. Using a collaborative design approach, DLA+ conducted interactive Visioning Workshops with Ownership, Operators, Architect, and General Contractor. These workshops were used to obtain stakeholder consensus and allow the contractor to update the budget and schedule throughout the design process. Due to the established budget and schedule, DLA+ created a design concept that incorporated the existing wood millwork details and stain, while introducing an accent wood in the new furnishings and millwork. The new accent wood compliments the existing wood tone, but also sets the new ballpark standard for projects moving forward. PNC Park “navy blue” was also a key component to the design concept, which included a custom carpet for the dining room. The projects were finished on time and on schedule.
